In response to the growing shortage of academically-qualified university accounting faculty members, especially those with recent experience in the practice of auditing and tax, concerned practitioners, leaders from more than 70 of the largest firms and more than 45 state CPA societies have joined together to fund the Accounting Doctoral Scholars (ADS) Program.
TSCPA is a supporter of the program's goals to increase the supply of qualified candidates to doctoral programs, and to increase the capacity of universities to accept additional students by providing funding for additional slots.
The application deadline for Fall 2011 is Oct. 1, 2010.
Participating Texas schools are Texas A&M, Texas Tech, North Texas, UT-Austin, and UT-San Antonio.
To be qualified, a candidate must have:
- Three years of recent public accounting experience in auditing and tax.
- Commitment to a career to teach and research at a U.S. AACSB accredited university upon completion of a doctoral program focusing on tax or auditing.
- The potential to gain admission to a doctoral program at one or more of the participating universities.
- Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
